The Music Department delivers a curriculum across 4 schools: Kindergarten, Primary, Secondary, and International. As in Drama, students in Primary, Secondary and International are taught separately, but choose iGCSE Music as an option and are taught together if opted for.

The Music department is a strong, expanding department that consists of 7 members of staff, with a specialist Kindergarten teacher, Primary and secondary teachers. Topics studied include such as Music Theory, Learning an Instrument (Piano, Ukulele, Guitar), World Music (African, Indian, Brazilian Drumming), Music Technology and Vocal Work. At iGCSE, students study the Cambridge International course. All lessons are taught in purpose-built Music classrooms with high quality equipment where each student has personal access to all resources.

To further develop the classroom learning, the Music department also has multiple practice rooms with Yamaha Piano and student working desk in each. The department boasts a professional standard recording studio equipped with a 32-channel digital desk, TV area and green screen facilities. There are two ensemble rooms for band practice that hold an acoustic drum kit, guitars and amplifiers, alongside electric pianos. Early years Kindergarten music enhances all areas of children’s development including school readiness, academic performance, language development, social/emotional development, gross and fine motor development, and phonological awareness. Activities begin with the basics of music incorporating engaging lessons that are fun and stimulating. Early music education also helps a child’s body and mind work together through movement activities. Music and movement activities in kindergarten help build the overall coordination of the body. Music activities in kindergarten engages the natural learning cycle of play, discovery, repetition, and their love for music!
