Secondary School

13~18 Years

Lower Secondary School

As pupils enter lower secondary school in Grade 7, the curriculum options expand. For instance, the humanities programme distinguishes between geography and history lessons, with science also splitting into three distinct disciplines. Politics and ICT will be added as compulsory elements. The Chinese curriculum is taught through Grades 7-9 by subject specialists from both Chinese and international backgrounds. We have international teachers in English, Science, Drama, Art, PE and Music.

Upper Secondary School

DSAS Upper Secondary School delivers a British-based curriculum that prepares pupils for university entry in the USA, Canada, England, Europe, Australia, as well as other countries. University counselling is provided to students in all four year groups. Pupils have two entry points to the Upper Secondary School programme. Students can enter a two-year IGCSE programme in Grade 9 which they complete at the end of Grade 10. Alternatively, those who have completed the compulsory Chinese curriculum at another school, and who have good English language proficiency, can enter a one-year IGCSE programme in Grade 10. Both IGCSE programmes prepare pupils to complete A-level courses or the International Baccalaureate Diploma (IBDP) Programme in Grade 11 and Grade 12.

Tutor system
The DSAS Tutor system provides a diversified communication approach and guidance for our students through the following mechanism: One‐to‐one meetings, PSHE lessons, Morning Tutor Session, Lunch Duty, House Activities, School Assembly etc.
University Counselling
DSAS uses a team approach to university counselling which gives students access to widespread experiences and opinions. We offer students a small student-to-counselor ratio, a big advantage in creating a meaningful and individualized university plan map. At the beginning of G9, each student will be assigned a counselor who will be their initial advisor whenever they have concerns or need advice. This allows students to establish close relationships with counselors before the university application process even begins. Of course, students are welcome to talk to anyone in the University & Guidance Counselling Office.
